Lennox

PHINEAS KISSED ME one more time and linked his fingers with mine as he smiled. “Are you ready?”

“Absolutely.”

“Repeat after me,” he said. “Ég gef þér allt sem ég er, allt sem ég vil vera og allt sem ég get verið.”

I blinked up at him, trying my best to remember the ancient words he’d just spoken. “Ég gef þér allt sem ég er, allt sem ég vil vera og allt sem ég get verið.”

“Perfect.” Phineas smiled, then continued, “Ég er þinn að eilífu. Ég er þinn að eilífu. Eining okkar mun aldrei bresta.”

I took a deep breath. “Ég er þinn að eilífu. Ég er þinn að eilífu. Eining okkar mun aldrei bresta.”

“Ást mín er alger.”

“Ást mín er alger,” I whispered.

He stroked my face. “Together.”

In unison, we spoke, “Ég gef þér allt sem ég er, allt sem ég vil vera og allt sem ég get verið. Ég er þinn að eilífu. Ég er þinn að eilífu. Eining okkar mun aldrei bresta. Ást mín er alger”

I gasped as we spoke the last words, meeting Phin’s eyes. I give you everything I am, all I want to be and all I can be. I’m yours forever. Our bond will never be broken. My love is absolute.

I still couldn’t believe I understood exactly what the words meant.

“It’s because we are one,” he explained.

“That’s amazing.”

“Aye.” He kissed me gently, but I wanted more, and tugged him closer.

“Don’t rush it, love.”

“Why?”

“Because our first time is going to hurt you a bit and I’ll do my best to help in that regard, but I want to make sure you’re comfortable.”

“What do you mean it’ll hurt?”

“How much do you know about sex?”

“I don’t really want to talk about that.”

“Why not?”

“Because it’s embarrassing.”

“You shouldn’t be embarrassed, love.” He smiled gently. “If you can’t talk about it with me, sweetheart, who can you talk about it with?”

“Nobody. Nobody’s good.”

“Did your step-mother talk to you about sex or did you have any kind of sex education in school?”

I blushed. “I was homeschooled, so that would be a no to both of those questions. Sex is dirty and only used for procreation.”

He stroked my cheek. “Do you think sex is dirty, Lennox?”

“No. At least, I don’t think so,” I breathed out. “But they certainly tried to shove that diatribe down my throat.”

“Well, we’re going to change that diatribe, sweetheart. All you’ll know about sex going forward is that it’s beautiful.”

“I don’t doubt it.”

“We’ll go slow.”

I nodded as he kissed me again, lifting me and gently settling me on the bed.

“Wait,” I panted out.

“Did I hurt you?”

“No, I just... oh, lord, this is... oh my... so good.” I bit my lip and squeezed my eyes shut tightly.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Waiting for God to smite me.” I opened one eye to find Phin grinning down at me. “Why are you smiling?”

“I’m waiting with you. If you go, we go together.”

I smiled, relaxing when lightning didn’t strike me dead. “I want more of what we just did.”

“I can do that.” He chuckled, kissing me again.
